I am a physician executive, board certified in Family Medicine with subspecialty certification in Addiction Medicine, and a Certified Correctional Health Professional for Physicians (CCHP-P). I am a Fellow of the American College of Correctional Physicians. Most of my career has been spent leading health care in county jails.
Experience
Orange County Health Care Agency, Correctional Health Services (2006–2023)

Clinical oversight of patient care in the county's adult jails and juvenile detention facilities. Led more than twenty physicians and advanced practice providers across medical and mental health services, monitored specialty and hospital utilization, and worked with sheriff's executives and county counsel on custody policy that met or exceeded regulatory standards.
Medi-Cal managed care plan (December 2023–present)
As Medical Director for CalAIM, my responsibilities include utilization management and community supports, and helping justice-involved individuals transition from custody back into the community. This includes work on California's Justice-Involved Reentry Initiative, which provides a targeted set of Medi-Cal pre-release services in the 90 days before release, so that people leaving custody are connected to care and community supports.
